APH Tree Planting Activity

June 28, 2025
La Mesa Watershed, Novaliches, Quezon City
In the Philippines, tree planting is a key factor to combat climate change, improve air and water quality, boost biodiversity, and restore native tree species. One of the initiatives to support this is the Annual Million Trees Challenge (AMTC) launched on February 18, 2017. This program is spearheaded by Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) and supported by various organizations in both public and private sector. Their primary initiative is to plant, nurture and sustain one million trees annually.
To ensure the sustainability of AMTC through 2030 – planting 10 million more trees – Million Trees Foundation, Inc. (MTFI), a non-profit organization, was established on March 18, 2021. MTFI is focused on reforestation, environmental education and watershed restoration. Their aim is to plant one million trees annually and provide livelihood opportunities in communities near the reforestation sites.
Consistent with our commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, Azbil Philippines Corporation (APH) partnered with MTFI to support these environmental efforts. Last June 28, 2025, a tree planting activity was held at Million Trees Nursery and Eco Learning Center at La Mesa Watershed, Novaliches, Quezon City. The event was joined by twenty-two (22) employees, led by Mr. Kiyohito Shigeta, General Manager for Corporate Division. Together, we planted approximately sixty (60) saplings of Philippines native trees, namely Narra and Kupang.
This activity marks the beginning of our long-term commitment to this advocacy, which we will continue as part of APH’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) initiatives and programs.
